Credit Card Basics

  • Pre-approved credit cards come with set criteria from the bank and these offers are sent to a list of potential candidates who meet this criteria that the bank received from the credit bureau.

  • Certain credit cards are not available in some states because of their specific consumer laws that restrain credit card issuers.

  • Credit card companies can raise your interest rate without advising, just be sure to pay your bills on time to avoid this scenario.

  • Hidden costs are generally not associated with credit cards as they are laid out in the application process, so be sure to read all of the terms and conditions to find out about any possible application, start-up, late or annual fees that may apply.

  • Balance transfer is just that, it is simply transferring the outstanding balance from one credit card to another credit card.
